The travel agency Groben Turismo was founded by Dieter Groben on March 23rd, 2012, who since then permanently has been living and working there. The office is in La Paz on the Altiplano and where the seat of government is located. It’s strategically advantageous because the majority of the international tourists enter this city, be it by terrestrial way or by airplane: La Paz comes up with the international airport “El Alto” and is furthermore relatively near to two Peruvian/Bolivian frontiers, namely at the river Desaguadero and on the peninsula of Copacabana (Kasani/Yonguyo). Furthermore the archaeological jewels of Tiwanaku/Puma Punku and the legendary Lake Titicaca aren’t at a great distance of La Paz. We conduct our tour programs in several languages: in German, English and Spanish. As from 2017 (probably as from September 2017) we also will offer some of our programs in French and, of course, the guidance will also be in French. Although this country has rather had a shadowy existence in the field of international tourism besides Peru, Argentina or Chile it comes up with a variety of singularities as its famous neighboring country Peru, be it in prehistoric context, referring to the pre-Columbian era or the era since the Spanish Conquista until now. Think, for example, of the historic/prehistoric vestiges of Tiwanaku and Puma Punku on the Bolivian Altiplano which due to their central context form the nucleus of our tour programs, or of the misunderstood carvings in sandstone of “El Fuerte” near Samai Pata in the department of Santa Cruz, cultural legacies which are unique in the world.
