The SODIS Foundation (also known simply as SODIS) was founded in 2001 in Cochabamba, Bolivia as a Bolivian organization with the main objective of improving access to safe water supplies. Initially, the focus of the Foundation´s work was the promotion of "Sodis", a novel technology of solar water disinfection. This focus was later broadened to include other methods of water disinfection, hygiene, and household sanitation. The mission of the SODIS Foundation is the development and diffusion of innovative technologies and creative methods that are accessible to people of limited resources and that improve human health- in short, "simple solutions that save lives".
